Crossing the Continents

It's that time of year again...
Tomorrow is the big day; we'll be flying back to the old world. It's kind of hard to explain without going into detail, but from time to time one has to be among familiar people. My friend Marianne once said: Each time I travel, I know when I reach the point that I need to go home; I simply must be among my own tribe every now and then.
Yes, I love going back to Europe each year! Back to the busy sidewalks, the hustle and bustle of the market scenes where merchants touch fruit and vegatables with their bare hands! Back to the millions of bicycles, the crowded cafe's, the fresh bread and oh so tasty cheese! Back to whole wheat breads and french fries with mayonaise! Back to small town living where people greet each other and look each other in the eye!
I'll be back in California though... nothing beats the weather here!

Song of Creation

It is your birth song too!
Sorek, the main character in my latest book Breath of Life is an artist at heart, believe it or not: a poet in the womb! Reading this book gives you a unique chance to listen to the child we all once were. His story is a message for America and I think his voice needs to be heard, so I like to share one of his first songs on this weblog. This isn't just another little poem, it holds a message, it speaks of Truth. It is your birth song too!
It seems the time stood still
For just a tiny little moment
When my Creator spoke the words
Let him be...

It seems the time stood still
For just a tiny little moment
When my Creator granted me the dream
Let him go...

It seems the time stood still
For just a tiny little moment
When my Creator handed me my destiny
Let him live...

Yes, within that tiny little moment
All of eternity stood still
And saw a new beginning

The Creator said
and let him be

like Me

Breath of Life inspires other writers

Poem on the life of Sorek
Through Facebook I received a note from someone who read my latest book Breath of Life and the story inspired him so, that he wrote a poem. He added: "You've done such a masterfully wonderful job of creating an engaging personality in this playful unborn guy. The message is delivered powerfully. Congratulations, and thank you. Id like to do as much as possible to call attention to his fate and your work to save him."
I was thrilled when I read Don's message and poem. I can only hope and pray readers will pick up Sorek's story like Don did and use it to further spread the message: unborn life is sanctified!

Live purposely

About thought provoking scriptures and such...
The living word can be surprisingly extreme! The other day I was reading the following words in the book of Colossians 3:17, Everything you do or say, then, should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Everything we do or say? That's nearly impossible; who lives like that? Yet, the extremer the scripture, the more it makes me think.
Last week I attended a Teen Challenge graduation and the theme of the evening was: living life with a purpose. I love that theme, because it holds a solemn warning against a life on automatic pilot; it calls for challenges and adventure! It also made me think about the words in Colossians. My purpose should be, to do and say everything in His name, or according to His will. I admit that I am not always consciously doing that, although I surely surrendered my whole life to Him and His will. So, the question to myself is: do I sometimes do the things I do in the name of something else? For instance, power, money, greed, frustration, pride or simply for the sake of pouting?
I encourage you to take such a reality check from time to time. It's refreshing, I promise!

Two News Tips

More press for Breath of Life
Have you ever done it? Google your own name to see what comes up? I am not afraid to admit it, I do it frequently, mainly to keep track of the journeys my books make. This week I found a recommendation for my latest book on a British website, how cool is that?! Also, the theater production SOREK is coming up. So, please take note of the following two news tips:
  1. My latest book Breath of Life is recommended in Great Britain on http://www.ccfon.org/ which is short for Christian Concern For Our Nation. Check out this awesome website and click on the abortion-tab. If you by any chance have connections with a pro-life organisation, please don't hesitate to tell them about Breath of Life or direct them to this blog.
  2. Sunday March 15th 2009 the theater production SOREK will open at Solid Rock Christian Center in Ventura, California. I wrote the script based on the book Breath of Life. This is going to be awesome, I promise! Solid Rock is located at 5105 Walker Street, Ventura, CA. Please be there at 6 pm.
