December is a good month for a fun book giveaway! Even more so when the title of the book is Grace of Giving :)
Grace of Giving is the fourth book in the Ten Commandments series and will be released January 25th 2011. Whether you use this book for personal or group study, it will surely help you to gain new insights on the 8th commandment. In my known step-by-step method I will explain how we go from merely obeying such a command to fulfilling it in our daily walk. As I unfold the New Testament thought behind this commandment you will discover that cheerful, abundantly and costly giving is the key to a life in all its fullness.
Make sure to join the fun by leaving a note in the comment box. All I am asking for is
- your favorite scripture on giving and
- the title of your favorite book on giving (if you don't have one, this is your chance to win one!)
Let me inspire you by giving my favorite scripture on giving: A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed (Proverbs 11:25). My favorite book on giving is Hidden Power by Tommy Barnett, that book changed my life! I will draw a name and announce the winner next week! You'll have your book just in time before Christmas!
Oh boy oh boy!
ReplyDeleteI really love the verse you picked a lot but I will say this one:
Whoever closes his ear to the cry of the poor will himself call out and not be!
I don't recall ever reading a book about giving other than the Bible...
Thanks for the fun Marja :-)
Well! I don't know what happened... let me try posting that verse again!
ReplyDeleteWhoever closes his ear to the cry of the poor will himself call out and not be answered.
—Proverbs 21:13
I'd love a copy of your book, Marja! Although my husband and I are generous givers, I must admit that I don't always give with a cheerful attitude. So my favorite verse on giving is one that keeps my attitude in check: 2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
ReplyDeleteA favorite book on giving? God Owns My Business by Stanley Tam. Definitely has stretched my faith in the area of giving!
Thanks for stopping by Life Lessons! It was neat to have the opportunity to meet a fellow blogger. And how much neater to know that we have a common bond in Christ! Looking forward to reading your post about intercontinental bloggers having the opportunity to meet! Hope you're able to make that happen! Have a wonderful week, friend! God bless!
Thanks Lorrie, that's a great verse too, Proverbs has an abundance of verses on giving and generosity!! I'll put your name in...
ReplyDeleteStanly Tam.... he is unknown to me, I'll check it out Maria. Thanks for your scripture!
ReplyDeleteHi Marja -
ReplyDeleteI also like the cheerful giver scripture. I don't have a favorite book on the subject, but would love to read yours. :)
Blessings,
Susan
Well, I'll put your name in Susan!
ReplyDeleteHi Marja,
ReplyDeleteI have many favorite scriptures that tie into giving. One is in Proverbs 18:24 where a man who has friends must show himself to be friendly. I've always thought of how that ties into sowing and reaping.
I don't have a favorite book about giving, so maybe your book will be just the one!
Thanks for doing this. :)
Blessings to you and your readers,
Karen
It could be the one Karen :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment, I'll put your name in too!
Oh, am I too late? Please say no! I found you on Susan Reinhardt's blog, Marja, so popped over to say "hi!"
ReplyDeleteI love to give, and am happy you wrote an entire book on it! Please enter me in the drawing.
My fave verse on giving? "Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and mulitply your seed for sowing, and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in ALL things for EVERY good work, which through the people who recieve it is producing thanksgiving to God." II Cor. 9:10-11.
My fave book on giving is one I read years ago by Oral Roberts--I believe the title is Seedtime and Harvest. It created a desire in me to live a lifestyle of giving, for which I've been abundantly blessed!
Love,
Jen

ReplyDeleteJeanette! You took one of my favorites. So if you don't mind, I'll use that one, too. II Cor. 9: 10-11.
