Trees can talk

Well, yeah... it's the month of December. That calls for rummaging through old notebooks and journals... just for remembrance sake. It also calls for short blog posts, because no one has time to read them.

I just LOVE going through old spiritual journals. Reading the old entries takes me back to the excitement of being a new believer. It takes me back to discovering truth and reading the Bible with eyes open for the first time. The other day I was going through some of my musings and found something that, I believe, is worth sharing...

The few lines I wrote down that day capture the essence of fresh faith: being surprised and excited about everything that can be learned from His Word! And that excitement captures the birth of this weblog Fresh Insights on Ancient Truths as well.

"Lord, what do I know about you? What do I really understand about everything You created? According to your Word stones can listen (Joshua 24:27) and trees can talk (Judges 9:9). That goes against everything I know to be the truth. Just because I never heard a tree (or a donkey for that matter) speak, doesn't mean it is impossible. Everything is possible with God!"
Just being curious:
Do you use this month to look back on the past year, and do you ever go through old journals?

  1. I participate in a group of bloggers who do Random Journal Day on the first Friday of each month. It is fun. Sometimes my journals refer to something that I was going through. I have to try to remember what it was, sometimes, I remember. I always mark those entries with the letters RJD. I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas.

  2. I do reflect on the past year in December - mostly what I didn't get done that I would have liked to. Trying to look more at what strides I did make though, this year. Always look forward as well and consider goals for the new year too.

Blessings to you and your family,
    Karen

    1. I recognize that Karen, looking at things I did not do, but I changed it now and am grateful for the things I DID do, the rest will have to move to next year! Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a fruitful New Year!
